THE CHALLENGE

A multibillion-dollar global Tier1 automotive supplier was undergoing a procurement transformation to drive cost reduction, supplier innovation, and operational excellence across its international footprint.

The business needed to secure two mission critical hires: a Chief Procurement Officer and a Global Head of Indirect Commodities, capable of leading multiregional teams, implementing strategic sourcing, and delivering measurable impact on cost and performance.

The challenge was compounded by the requirement for:

  • Deep technical and commercial negotiation skills to drive BOM cost reduction
  • Transformational leadership to build capability and navigate organizational complexity
  • Executive presence and strategic vision to influence Csuite stakeholders
  • Automotive electronics experience to align with core product portfolios

THE SOLUTION

Miramar partnered closely with the client’s leadership team to design and execute a targeted, research led search to attract worldclass procurement executives.

Key elements of the solution included:

  • Development of precise selection criteria across technical, strategic, and leadership capabilities
  • Creation of a priority target list covering leading automotive electronics suppliers, diversified Tier1s, and select consumer electronics companies
  • Proactive headhunting of candidates from organizations such as Bosch, Valeo, Continental, Aptiv, Denso, Visteon, and global electronics leaders
  • Partner led engagement and assessment to evaluate cultural fit, strategic capability, and ability to transform procurement in a complex global environment

THE RESULT

  • Over 300 global procurement executives mapped and approached across Europe, Asia, and North America
  • Shortlists presented within 4 weeks, with final selections made in under 3 months
  • Successful appointments:
  • Chief Procurement Officer (global remit)
  • Global Head of Indirect Commodities
  • Both candidates brought proven leadership in automotive electronics and track records in strategic cost transformation

The impact

These appointments provided the client with high impact procurement leadership to accelerate cost reduction initiatives, strengthen supplier partnerships, and elevate procurement’s strategic role within the business.

The project demonstrated Miramar’s ability to translate complex functional requirements into an actionable global search, delivering speed, precision, and leadership alignment.

This success reinforced our long-term partnership with the client, supporting continued leadership hiring across procurement and supply chain transformation initiatives.
