THE CHALLENGE

Following a significant ownership change, our client launched a global transformation programme focused on commercial excellence, operational improvement and integration synergies. The programme carried a nine-figure recurring profit target and was a strategic priority for both the company’s executive leadership and its shareholder.

Miramar was retained to appoint a transformation leader who could work directly with the Group CFO and across regional and functional leadership teams. The successful candidate needed to combine transformation expertise with strong commercial judgment, financial discipline and the confidence to challenge senior stakeholders in a complex global matrix.

The search was conducted under strict confidentiality and initially taken to market without disclosing the client’s identity.

THE SOLUTION

We assessed candidates against a focused set of “acid tests” covering:

  • Delivery of large-scale transformation with measurable financial impact
  • Commercial and operational understanding across sales, pricing, supply chain and operations
  • Executive-level communication and stakeholder influence
  • Effectiveness within complex, global matrix organisations
  • The ability to create accountability and deliver in ambiguous environments
  • Cultural alignment with the organisation’s values and performance expectations

The search targeted transformation leaders from lubricants, automotive aftermarket, chemicals, energy and consumer products, with a particular focus on candidates who had built transformation capability rather than simply advised on it.

THE RESULT

Miramar appointed a UK-based global transformation executive with extensive experience across consumer products and food manufacturing.

The successful candidate had:

  • Established and led an enterprise transformation office
  • Built global governance, portfolio-management and value-realisation frameworks
  • Led transformation across procurement, supply chain, commercial, finance and technology
  • Delivered and overseen programmes generating more than $400 million in productivity savings
  • Managed a $1.5 billion global value-leadership portfolio
  • Influenced C-suite, regional and functional leaders across highly matrixed international organisations

The impact

The appointment gave the client a proven value-creation leader capable of translating strategy into execution, strengthening programme governance and holding the organisation accountable for sustained financial results.
