THE CHALLENGE
As part of continued investment in their functional ingredients division, Kerry Taste & Nutrition required an executive to scale their business supplying the Pharma and Biotech markets.
The key challenge was finding the blend of skills and experience required to lead a diverse portfolio, drive innovation alongside an aggressive M&A strategy. The executive would also need a track record in leading a complex, global P&L and technically competent across in pharmaceutical ingredients and the formulation of pharmaceutical products.
THE SOLUTION
Miramar conducted a thorough mapping exercise of the pharmaceutical ingredient supplier market. This involved creating organisational charts of target companies, assessing both the existing business leaders as well as the high potential future leaders reporting into them. Miramar searched for candidates located close to the headquarters or who could relocate as well as across the East Coast and Mid-West who could be remote based.
This, alongside sourcing our network of experts across the life science industries allowed us to provide comprehensive data to help inform decision making throughout the search process.
THE RESULT
Miramar’s assessment process included psychometric testing alongside behavioural and competency interviews, which provided a diverse and highly qualified shortlist of 5 candidates. 2 of these candidates were local to the area who could be based from the organisations HQ, whilst 3 were based across the East Coast & Mid-West. This allowed the organisation to assess the cost-benefit of both options. Kerry’s first choice candidate was offered and accepted and after a coordinated induction programme has had a successful impact in the role.
