Miramar were retained to appoint the VP, Pet Food Ingredients, for a $multi-billion organisation. Whilst our client had sold into the Pet Food market, there had not been a dedicated business unit focusing on this. Following an acquisition, the organisation needed an experienced commercial leader with strong market knowledge to build and scale this market. The key challenge was finding an individual with the unique blend of technical understanding, market knowledge, commercial leadership and a strong network.
Miramar conducted an analysis of competitors, including their organisational structure, commercial strategy and leadership. This allowed us to provide significant intelligence to assist the organisation when assessing candidates. A very limited market, and numerous executives having restrictive clauses, meant that a key part of our strategy was to leverage our network; identifying relevant executives who had stepped away from the market or were in executive consulting roles but may consider this opportunity on a medium-term basis.
We worked closely with the President and HR Director throughout the search to consistently present in-depth market intelligence and analysis alongside potential profiles. These executives represented different approaches the organisation could take, providing them with a range of experience and skills to consider. We worked with the business to ensure the executives met several stakeholders and viewed the various facilities as part of their process. The organisation appointed an executive who had been recommended by numerous industry experts in Miramar’s network.
