THE CHALLENGE

Our client, a multi-billion-dollar global MedTech market leader, sought to drive a cultural transformation and establish long-term strategies within a $1B+ business unit. Facing heightened competition and an evolving marketplace, the business aimed to foster an “improve” culture—one where employees felt safe to share ideas, raise concerns, and challenge the status quo. At the same time, operating in a mature yet disrupted market, the unit needed to take critical steps to future-proof its position.

To achieve this, there was an urgent need to appoint a new Business Unit Head, VP/GM, who could reset the tone on culture and strategy. This leader would assume responsibility for the global P&L while overseeing a cross-functional organization spanning Marketing, R&D, Operations, Finance, HR, Clinical & Regulatory Affairs, and more.

THE SOLUTION

Miramar was retained based on our proven track record of partnering with transformational market leaders adapting to shifting dynamics. Given this business operated in the IVD space, Miramar conducted an in-depth mapping of competitors, value-chain collaborators, and adjacent players. We also examined leadership profiles from other mature MedTech markets that had undergone similar cultural and strategic transformations.

From this research, we developed a compelling messaging campaign and applied it to a sustained, targeted outreach cadence, engaging top passive talent in the market. To ensure alignment, we also designed a bespoke behavioral assessment that measured candidates against the leadership attributes critical for driving both cultural change and strategic growth.

THE RESULT

Within two shortlists, our client was presented with a diverse range of fully vetted candidates, each bringing distinct and valuable expertise. From the top three finalists, the client selected a proven leader with a strong track record in cultural change management and trust-building within global teams.

The impact

The new VP/GM brought immediate momentum to the business unit. By fostering openness and collaboration, they shifted employee engagement from cautious compliance to active contribution, empowering teams to voice ideas and embrace innovation. Strategically, they sharpened the long-term roadmap, balancing short-term competitive demands with future-proofing investments. Their cross-functional leadership alignment improved execution discipline, accelerated decision-making, and rebuilt trust across global teams.

As a result, the business is now positioned not only to defend its market-leading status but also to capitalize on new opportunities in the evolving MedTech landscape.
