Head of Digital Health, Mid-cap MedTech Company
THE CHALLENGE
We recently completed a Head of Digital Health search for one of our clients, a mid-cap MedTech company with multiple divisions spanning various technologies and therapy areas. To drive future growth, the business aimed to develop digital solutions that would deliver personalized patient insights and enable new care settings. The Head of Digital Health role was enterprise-wide, responsible for governing how these solutions were developed and integrated across product portfolios, while also building a common cloud platform and tools that could be leveraged across divisions.
THE SOLUTION
After assessing the trade-offs, we worked with the client to prioritize technical depth with strategic and communicative potential. Because there was a clear roadmap and key milestones to hit (and limited in-house digital expertise) we focused on identifying a hands-on expert with a proven ability to think strategically and communicate effectively across functions.
Miramar’s deep knowledge of the MedTech landscape helped us zero in on the right candidates. While many companies build connected devices, only a few stand out for product quality and how well-integrated digital teams are within their organization. We focused on candidates from companies where digital is seen as a strategic growth driver, not just a cost center—knowing that these environments tend to attract and retain stronger, broader talent.
THE RESULT
The successful candidate brought exactly what was needed: deep digital subject matter expertise paired with the ability to galvanize cross-functional teams. They had the technical know-how to architect solutions and the strategic lens to align these efforts with business goals. Their ability to bridge the gap between engineering and executive leadership made them a catalyst for change within the organization from day one.
The impact
Our client now has digital leadership in-house; someone who doesn’t just understand what needs to happen but knows how to make it happen and can inspire others to follow.
One of the key reasons this candidate joined was impact. They were moving from a role where the products they worked on primarily focused on workflow optimization and helping hospitals run more efficiently to one directly tied to improving patient outcomes. The opportunity to build digital solutions that enhance life-changing treatments was not only meaningful but motivating. In a competitive market, aligning purpose with capability made all the difference.
