Miramar Success for Future for Heroes

Miramar Global’s London office are supporting the charity Future for Heroes through the Work for Good organisation and are pleased to announce double success in the work they have been doing with the charity.

Miramar are Working for Good

Work for Good is an organisation who connect charities to businesses to help them with funding or services. New businesses can choose one or more charities to support that fit with their own mission and values.

Miramar Global Executive Search have worked with Future for Heroes since 2015, to support military veterans who have given so much in their service, as we also understand the difficulties faced by people transitioning from one role to the next.

The Right Fit

At Miramar we specialise in identifying and acquiring executive leaders for business worldwide, from board members and CEOs for mid-market companies through to Directors and Managers for larger corporates.

In the last few years, the charity has been growing in response to surging demand,going through a period of change with a new CEO guided by a veteran Chairman.    These changes and our involvement have coincided nicely, so the charity enlisted our search expertise to support the Board build as part of the Chairman’s succession planning for Trustees.

Since the charity was nominated as one of three beneficiaries of the City Championships this year, the Chairman sought to diversify the Board with the addition of expertise from the financial services sector to widen the fundraising and support net, as well as contributing to the charity’s good governance. So our pro-bono search began.

Miramar approached this mandate as any other: after a detailed brief, we used a combination of our networks and in-house research to build a talent pool, which we shared with the Chairman for feedback.  We then approached candidates for confidential discussions, with a very positive response rate from a number of potential candidates volunteering to support the charity.  We then developed a small number of strong profiles who matched or exceeded the brief, using a tailored process to identify, attract and secure a ‘short list’ of the three most qualified candidates, whom we introduced to the Chairman for interviews.  

Search Success

After managing our candidates through the interview and selection process, we were delighted to learn that the Chairman wished to appoint not one, but two of them as Trustees.  Now that their appointments have been confirmed by the Charities Commission, we wish to congratulate and thank both Sean Taylor and Christian Yates for agreeing to join the charity’s Board as Trustees. Sean and Christian had first careers in the British Army, and now work successfully in different parts of ‘the City’ with strong financial services networks.  Both have supported many military charities throughout their careers, and so will bring considerable expertise to Future for Heroes.

The Future

Miramar will continue to partner with Future for Heroes to provide ongoing support in every way we can.  Both Future for Heroes and Miramar Global have gained a lot from this process.  Graham Brown, CEO of the charity commented,
