A global functional ingredients business acquired a based microalgae production platform and created a new business unit Algae Ingredients business unit. The microalgae-based specialty ingredients will be supplied into human and animal nutrition application markets. Miramar were retained to secure a Head of Animal Nutrition for this new business unit, globally.
This was effectively a start-up business which needed an executive with the right blend of technical, commercial and operational experience who was able to scale the business but be hands on at the early stages.
We built a search strategy to identify the specialty ingredient and additives manufactures for the feed markets, as well as the feed producers supplying into feed and aqua markets, across EMEA.
We identified candidates who had the relevant technical understanding of the animal nutrition and functional ingredients markets as well as a proven track record in designing and executing commercial strategy across these markets. We interviewed a range of candidates, ensuring the skills and experience were supplemented by the right cultural fit for the organisation.
